How I Reached Six-Figure Profits in Three Steps

Yep, you read that right: Six-figure profits in half the steps. And I’m going to teach you how I did it.

Pause for a second, though. Coach Stevie here; take a knee.

Things to consider first:

Two things I want to be really clear about before moving forward:

One: There is a literal world of difference between six figures of income and six figures of profit.

I know you’ve seen business coaches and the like on Instagram boasting their ability to teach you to reach six figures of income in a matter of months after doing so themselves. And I’m sure they did and that they really can show you how to do the same; I’m not calling anyone a liar. But, y’all, if something sounds too good to be true, then there’s at least some information missing.

‘Income’ tells half the story.

Income refers to the amount of money simply generated by a small business, not the amount of money left to take home or reinvest after you’ve paid your people, your taxes, your operating expenses, etc.

Now, again, don’t get me wrong–generating six figures of income still requires a lot of hard work and is very impressive. The only problem with advertising that figure alone is just that simply fixating solely on income doesn’t tell the whole story of the health of your small business. A business owner generating massive income, but also spending massive amounts of money in order to generate such income, may still be finishing the year with a net loss.

‘Profit’ tells the whole story.

Successful profit, however, like I said before, tells you what’s left of your income after covering your expenses.

Profit tells the whole story of a small business that’s led not only by a powerful income generator, but also by a discerning decision maker. This figure tells the story of a small business owner not only making strategic investments that do indeed move the needle forward, but also one conserving where necessary in order to ensure the lasting financial health of her business (that she understands the difference between the two also represents significant experience and lessons learned).

The business owner from whom to take advice:

Essentially, the business owner who’s made her money, retained and paid helpful people, handled her taxes correctly, covered quality inventory and other expenses that keep the whole show running smoothly, reinvested in her future success, and then taken home what she wants is the woman you want to follow into business.

She’s the woman I want to help you become because, after three years of some of the highest highs and lowest lows I’ve ever experienced that ultimately pushed me toward unprecedented growth both personally and professionally, this is the woman I can now confidently say that I am.

To those whom much is given, much is expected.

And I believe wholeheartedly that all who achieve anything ought to look to see who’s next in line behind them, grab ahold of all the hands they can, and pull their fellow badass female entrepreneurs along on this epic journey.

Understand, also, before moving on:

The second thing we need to discuss:

Two: The road to six-figure profit success has not all been smooth.

Were the line from start to now to be plotted on a graph, it would absolutely not be linear. In fact, some of those dots, if accounting for emotional prowess, confidence in myself, and motivation to persist, might have landed below zero on some days. And even that aforementioned seemingly perfect woman on Instagram has her lows. It’s just a part of it.

The truth is that there’s no bullet proof manual for easy entrepreneurship. Every business, business owner, and particular circumstance surrounding each is different, and we’re all just trying to figure it the heck out.

If you’ve got something good, you should share it.

But, while that can be completely true, in the interest of empowering others, if you figure out something good that works, you should clue people in, right? And that’s how we got here.

Step 1: Build a solid foundation.

  • Form a business plan, make cash flow projections, and get in the habit of bookkeeping accurately and proactively

  • Obtain retainer clients as sources of recurring revenue

  • Establish your unique brand identity

  • Build a subscriber list and get into email marketing

  • Operate with trustworthiness and gather testimonials from happy clients

**Coach Stevie, at your service again. FYI, all points above and below are, again, just a quick summary of what’s to come. While I think this list on its own does indeed make a valuable roadmap and a legitimate offer, I’m going to actually teach you how to really truly do every single one of these things.

Step 2: Scale your profits.

  • Focus on perfecting the details surrounding your 1:1 client relationships before seeking to scale

  • Get intentional about forming positively influential community, as “we don’t rise in isolation”

  • Pursue mentorship relationships

  • Build credibility by making guest appearances on others’ platforms, as well as hosting your own credible guests

  • Be ok with ‘messy action’--AKA, just try something, even before you have all the details figured out or can reliably predict the outcome, get feedback, make refinements based on what matters most to you, pivot accordingly, and repeat; don’t sit on your hands waiting for the perfect idea

  • Along with the above, accept that failure is just a part of this journey; retrain your mind to think of the moments where things didn’t work out the way you hoped as having ‘fallen forward’ and take advantage of the opportunity to learn valuable lessons

  • Apply what’s working in your 1:1 client relationships as well as your willingness to put yourself out there even if all doesn’t go as planned at first to create valuable, scalable offers to larger communities of ideal clients

Step 3: Earn with ease.

  • Confidently raise your prices when the time is right

  • Invest in continued education in order to stay at the forefront of your field

  • Eliminate unnecessary portions or optimize inefficient portions of your client acquisition and onboarding processes

  • Pour meaningful effort and creativity into making your client experience feel VIP

  • Outsource the tasks that waste your time or creativity

  • Automate as many systems as possible

  • Don’t forget about SEO as a tool for reaching members of your target audience who are literally already looking for you

Don’t sleep on this.
